Program Description
Empower your community and kickstart your career in public health with the Community Health Worker (CHW) Certificate at California Preparatory College. This comprehensive program is designed to provide you with the theoretical knowledge and practical, hands-on experience needed to excel in a vital community support role.
What do Community Health Workers do?
A CHW is a trusted frontline public health worker who acts as a liaison between community members and health/social services to bridge gaps in care, particularly for underserved populations. CHWs typically coordinate care among individuals, communities, and health and social service systems. They conduct outreach, such as through home visits. And, they provide culturally appropriate health and informational resources, among other tasks.

Professional Requirements:
Beyond the classroom, our program emphasizes real-world readiness through three critical components:
1) Mandatory Seminars and Workshops: Students are required to attend all seminars and workshops designated by the CPC CHW Department to ensure they meet professional expectations.
2) 120-Hour Internship: Gain practical, hands-on experience in a real-world community setting through our mandatory internship program.
3) Capstone Project: Complete your certificate with a final project that reflects the practical application of your learning. This project is developed through a mutual agreement between the student and faculty to align with your personal interests.
